new block editor

How do I just scroll and click the tags I always use. All I can find is the ‘tag’ box, and I have to type each tag that I use. The old way I could click the tag box and just click on the tags I use. Is this not possible anymore???

  • Hi there,

The classic editor only listed a very limited number of most-used tags. It didn’t list all tags, because most sites accumulate hundreds of tags over time, and listing them all would take up too much space and make the editor incredibly slow to load.

The block editor doesn’t list any tags, but if you start typing a tag in the box it will show you suggestions of tags that start that way, allowing you to select from that list instead. You can see an animation illustrating this here:

    Hi kokkieh,

I understand that the version I use now doesnt list ALL tags but it does list the tags that I use. After 3 years of blogging I have only accumulated 32 tags, and only use 12 of those. When I clicked the “tags” box the tags I use pop up, I am able to scroll and click the 12 tags I like to use. Now I will have to, I guess, write them down somewhere so I can remember them, then start typing them for the suggestion to pop up then scroll through the suggestions until the one I use pops up then click it? Lots of extra time, steps, and clicks to that process, is it not?

  • Hi there,

The Block Editor is a core WordPress component that’s being developed and maintained by the WordPress.org community. We’re only using the WordPress software to host the sites.
