New "block" format has deleted most of my categories

I can get to “c” and that’s IT. What happened to “D” through “Z”? You need to fix this because I can’t write without the tools I use. I’ve been blogging with you for more than 6 years and every time you change the format, you make it HARDER to do the job.
All I wanted to do was LOOK at the new format, but you forced me to switch and it does not work.

Hi there,
Your categories are not deleted. There is a bug that the block editor is not listing them all, but they are all still there on your site.
We are aware of the issue and someone is already working on fixing it.
The block editor is still in testing, so please let us know of any other issues like this you find. The more people use the editor and report problems to us, the better it will work once it becomes the default editor in the core WordPress software :)

I cannot create a gallery is any picture has a caption.
If I look for my category (search), it does not appear.
I see what you are trying to do with this format and it would even make sense if I was designing a book. But for a 500 word blog? It’s total overkill. It reminds me of the old Adobe Frame which was a brilliant (if exceedingly complicated) way to design manuals for software and hardware that included indexes and appendixes and footnotes and reference lists, multiple books and LOTS of graphics.
But this is a BLOG … and FrameMaker was a very difficult product to use. So is this new format. A lot of people who are not particularly tech savvy are going to be overwhelmed and will give up posting.
If you want to create this complicated format, okay, but maybe you need to allow those with simpler needs to have a simpler format? My husband will NEVER use this format. He can barely work with the old one and he won’t be able to deal with this.
I know you guys have never asked any of us what WE want or paid any attention to the actual needs of your users, but this is going to really drive people away. Minimally, give us a choice. What harm is there in allowing choice? What happened to freedom?
Meanwhile, I can’t work without the categories and they do not appear when searched for. I have repeatedly tried and I either get nothing or a lock up.

This effort has been response to requests by many users. But you’re welcome to switch back to the classic editor while we work out the issues. Click the three dots in the upper right & you’ll be offered that option.

The issue causing the missing categories should be fixed now. Please let us know if you still see any problems there.
