New Block system Problem when backing up for offline use
-
I use WinHTTrack to back up my blogs.
Why that and not the WordPress export?
Because I use the content as an instructional tool off-line on a laptop. Then the new system of ‘blocks’ was FORCED on us.
Bottom line is although graphics download OK, any post built by using the block system stalls the process for minutes at a time.Incidentally, the block system doesn’t even have drag and drop, is a nightmare to configure tables, and other problems which are causing me to create the post in an office suite, then paste it into this ‘Block’ thingie.
Only then I have to spend an hour or so reformatting the post as CR creates a new block and mucks up the whole presentation of the post!
Just to make sure it wasn’t WinHTTrack I downloaded an older blog built using the old composer, and it downloaded in minutes even though it was twice as large.
The old system worked a treat and there is an old engineers saying the happiness engineers need to take on board:- It it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Will someone please put the link back on the menu so I can work in the old compositor which I was happily using since 2012.
Thank you

Hi there,
You can switch to the classic editor by clicking on the three dots (next to the cog icon) at the top of the post or page editor and selecting “Switch to Classic Editor”.
Here is a screencast of the steps to follow:
If your site is using one of the business themes, it will not work with the classic editor. You will need to switch to an older theme if you want to have the option to switch to the classic editor. Then, you see the three dot menu appear to change editors.
Hopefully that helps.
Thanks,
