  Hello everyone!

  So I want to start up another blog and make it its own domain through WordPress (ex. mysite.com instead of mysite.wordpress.com). However the username is being used as a wordpress site(ie. mysite.wordpress.com). The domain is free though. I’m lost on what I should do. Any help? Also im sorry if that was really confusing!

  Sorry about the double post. I can’t figure out how to delete the other one. Also, is there a way to edit posts? That last sentence wasn’t supposed to be there either. Thanks in advance.

  Hi Caroline!

  That’s OK. No harm done.

  So it doesn’t matter what your username is. I would make it something like mysite1.wordpress.com or something.

  Once you have an account, you can upgrade to a custom domain plan, purchase the domain if it’s available, and change your primary domain to that domain.

  So you’ll login with the username mysite1 but your website will use the correct domain.

  As you can see, you have the option to get the domain directly through WordPress.com OR you can buy the domain from someone else and map to it. It’ll probably be cheaper to get it from WP.com directly.
