Why does my new blog address is redirect to the old address?

  • Unknown's avatar

Some people are having problems with the link I have sent with the new blog address which is: http://bushfirereadybv.wordpress.com/ When they click on the link ‘some’ people are being directed to this address: http://bragkelmscott.wordpress.com/author/kelmscottbrag/ I am very confused about this. I am launching this Blog officially on Sunday at a public meeting on Sunday so could you please help me.
    Blog url: http://bushfirereadybv.wordpress.com/

Everything works for me. Clicking on http://bushfirereadybv.wordpress.com/ takes me to the correct page.

Have you been able to recreate the issue?

Where are they accessing that link from?

I sent the link to about a dozen people and asked them to click on the link. Four reported a problem. Also some didn’t have the problem initially but when they googled it they same problem. I went to one of the people house to try it out on there computers and I had the same problem. By where do you mean what city. Various places in the Perth Metro area.

Everything is displaying correctly for me, even if I Google your site and click on the link via Google’s results.

Could you ask the visitors reporting this problem to try clearing their browser’s cache and cookies?

Additionally, for the four people who reported a problem, were they all being redirected to the same address?

I will tell them to do that. Yes they all got the same page which was: http://bragkelmscott.wordpress.com/author/kelmscottbrag/ My daughter and husband have tried hard to replicate it and can’t. I am still waiting to hear from the four people how they faired. One of the people I sent the link out to sent it out to others too and more reports of problems occurred. Maybe they are all replicating the same mistake. We also tested the actual link I posted and it worked. This is very baffling and doesn’t seem possible.

It may be possible that the wrong link was copied and pasted at some point (can’t say I haven’t made that mistake myself! :D ) or it was a temporary glitch.

Thanks for your help in troubleshooting — please keep us updated!

I am hoping this is the case. It is inexplicable otherwise. They did all have the same email with the instructions to click on the link. Mmmm If it just happened to one or two I would have passed it on as them doing something else. Maybe it was a full moon that night. haha I am going to launch the blog tomorrow at a function (which includes local dignitaries and the press). I don’t feel very confident knowling that some people have been very frustrated at not being able to connect. Is there any advice I can give to the people to ensure they do not have the same problem. Or what to do if the archived page comes up for them. I didn’t think you could get more foolproof than attaching a link. Time will tell. In the meantime I will get back to those people and send a test link to some new people. I have a feeling tooo that the people who are having problems all have internet explorer. Three of them have.
I am waiting for that conformation with the fourth person. I don’t know whether that means anything I am just clutching at straws.
