new blog and domain

So I just bought a new domain on GoDaddy and wanted to create a premium website/blog (the Gema theme) on WordPress. But now I hear that I can’t transfer that domain until it’s more than 60 days old. If I map it to WordPress the site says there’s an additional charge for that. Or is that included in the premium site? And can I then transfer it to WordPress after the 60 days so I don’t have to manage both GoDaddy and WordPress? And then I can pay for the premium site and domain registration on WordPress each year?

  • Hi –

Each plan includes 1 domain credit. You can use that to map or transfer the domain for use on WordPress.com.

In your case, you can use it to map the domain. Once your domain is eligible for transfer come back here to this thread and let me know. I’ll make sure you can transfer the domain at no additional charge.

From here, you’ll want to add the premium plan via https://wordpress.com/plans/

Then, work on the domain mapping process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Write back with any other questions.
