New blog form issues; it's been "checking" proposed name for 60 min
-
I’ve been trying to launch a new blog. I’m having issues with the form.
When I enter a proposed blog name, it never seems to register—the form has been “checking” the availability of the name for over an hour (still running as I’m typing this).
Is this normal?

No. The connection has probably timed out. Close the tab/window and try again.
If that doesn’t work, then you could be having browser issues. Try these suggestions: -
Thanks for sending the link. I’ll try clearing my cache. I’ve tried Firefox and Chrome, shut down windows/tabs, tried again, but got the same result.

OK. Uncle. I’ve tried clearing the cache, deleting cookies. Same thing. I’m not sure what’s going on.

What is the URL? Sometimes it just keeps spinning when the domain has already been taken and the easiest way to find out is to just open it in a new tab and see if it exists.

I tried this and it it doesn’t appear to.
What is interesting is that when I click the paid options, I get the green check, as though the name were available, but when I go through the rest of the steps, I get an error message.

Without the domain name and such, we can’t help you. Try doing a Cookie Dance and see if that helps. http://raincoastermedia.com/2012/05/01/the-cookie-dance/
