New blog posts inserted in strange order

    Blog entries for my blog using the 2014 theme are in a strange order.
    It should display the most recent first but for some reason
    it displays two earlier posts(post 1 and post 2 for this discussion)
    together on the same row (adjacent columns) and before the most recent post (post 3 for this discussion).
    The only thing that has changed (that I know of) is an upgrade
    to the php version . It is now 7 and was 5.2 I believe.
    I ran a compatibility checker but it has a bug and gave up on three of the plugins. The others were compatible.
    I then went through my plugins and disabled one by one but none were the cause of the issue.

    All of the previous posts before the example posts 1 and 2 are
    in the correct order.

    However, it does sound like it may be an issue where you have a few sticky posts enabled. I would check and see if that is the case because new posts you publish will always appear under sticky posts even though they are older.
