I have searched for answers to this issue and have not seen anything. I’ve set up my blog, and it seems to be working the way I like it, and i’m allowing people to post without logging in.

But nowhere on the site is there a link for someone to click and go register if they want to. There was nothing even when I was requiring people to register in order to post comments. How do I activata a link to a Registration page?

http://wordpress.com/signup/ and get a new blog – there is no “user” registration form like in the downloadable version of WordPress!

I did downloaded WordPress and that’s the version I’m having problems with. I don’t want my visitors to have to “create a new blog” just so they can post a comment.

Besides, I’d like to have a memberlist.

On the other hand, would the fact that I have not found a hosting site yet have something to do with it? I’ve never done this before, and all I’ve done is download WordPress and started to configure the site. I can find my site online from home and from work.

If you are using a ver of WP downloaded from WP.org you need to direct your questions to their forum;. This is for people who have their blogs hosted by WP.com only.

I think I have the same question, but I’m definitely using a WP.com blog. If someone reading my blog wanted to post a comment they would have no way to do so. You have to be logged in, but there is no register link. Do you have to have a wordpress blog to comment on someone’s blog? Because if thats true, thats lame. Is there a way around this? Or is my best option to explain that in the sidebar and add my own link to wordpress.com?

Just because they have a blog doesn’t mean they have to use it.
They’re registering for a username. Call the Blog a ‘value added bonus’, that doesn’t have to be used.

It’s just like signing up for an Akismet API Key when you already have a blog elsewhere.

I suppose thats true, but I know some people will be discouraged by having to go through the trouble and a lot of my readers are not as tech-savvy as they could be. I’ve seen in other people’s blogs, i.e. http://scobleizer.wordpress.com/2006/09/04/sad-days/ that there is a user friendly add comments form at the bottom. I would love to be able to have that. Is that a wordpress.org thing? His site is a .com so it seems possible…

That’s the standard form. You need to uncheck the box on your Dashboard -> Options -> General page that makes folks be logged in to comment. :)

Just when I thought I’d looked at every Dashboard option a dozen times for the answer…

    Thanks!
