New Bloggers

For new bloggers, as well as those who have been here a while, you might find this useful.

First, I want to reply to the posts in the thread about AdSense, which was first locked, then deleted.
drmike, I write this with no malice, with some amount of humor, and with some degree of “What the hell?”. That being said… Yes, I saw your avatar, but you said, “I went ahead and deleted some posts…”. I’m not aware of any other message board where non-staff memebers can delete threads or posts, so I figured the avatar was just you guys keeping things light and humorous. How stupid of me, I don’t deserve to live :) .

For the person who said, “I don’t think it’s too much to ask for people to search the forum before posting…”, well, that’s exactly what I did, the first thread I came across that had “AdSense” in the title is where I looked for answers, then asked the question that so far in that thread had not been answered. Another one of you regulars said this: “Doesn’t this individual resurrecting a month dormant thread show signs of TROLL?” SO, (in “What the hell?” mode) which is it, search the forum and post in an already existing thread and be called a TROLL, AND pee off the regulars; or, start my own thread (which I also did), ask my question, and pee off the regulars anyway?

The fact that this question has been asked thousands of times in this HELP FORUM, shows one of two things – either there are thousands of stupid people who like to ask stupid questions so as to screw with the regulars at help forums, OR, there are thousands of newcomers who do exactly what I did – start a blog here at WordPress.com, being totally unaware that ads are not allowed, spend some amount of time (WEEKS in my case) trying to incorporate the ads, then finally coming here to the HELP FORUM to ask for HELP. My common sense tells me that there should be something (first of all) in the TOS that says that no ads are allowed. Ok, it’s common knowledge that most people don’t read those, since they pretty much all say the same thing. So, here at the Help Forum, if there were something eye-catching that says in the title, something like, “ADSENSE USERS READ THIS!”, where it would clearly say “Commercial ads, including AdeSense are not allowed”, it would likely clear up at least most of the problem of newcomers asking questions that have already been asked. It would also pretty much eliminate exchanges such as the one where I listened to snippy comments from more than one person, where my question was never clearly answered, and where some of the regulars wish they could turn me into a dead guy.

One last thing, if you people’s definition of a Troll is someone who will call B.S. what it is, then I will wear that title proudly :) .

This is a post in the Support forum: did you have a technical support question?

If you want to address the way wordpress is set up, you can contact staff through your feedback button on the Dashboard Monday to Friday.

If you had read the terms of service you agreed to at the start (I guess you didn’t read those, because it’s in there), or done a simple forum search, you’d not have wasted all that time.

Would you please stop directly your comments to me? I still think you’re not getting the hang of my avatar.

I didn’t delete the thread nor close it nor do I want that “power” around here ever again. You’ll note that we really only have volunteers here answering questions in the forums. There’s a reason for that.

We had a FAQ sticky at the top of the forums. It was ignored most of the time, just like that Please Read Me First sticky gets ignored. Click on the wordpress.org tag along the side to see how often that occurs around here. There is a FAQ explaining adverts and that is linked at the top of the forums as well. Staff has also stated that they don’t like the idea of multiple stickies as things get too crowded up there.

edit: Something to think about. if you spent *WEEKS* trying to do something without asking for assistance or looking at the FAQ blog or teh forums or even sending in a feedback, what does that tell you? All those links are on every single on e of your admin pages, the feedback link along the top.

    reported to staff

“We have had a blogger post 3 times on the same issue adsense and regardless of our attempts to steer him towards staff his rhetoric is escalating and you have already closed one thread.
I put a modlook on this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700
you have closed this one https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=11355

Its simple guys – you blog on someone else’s server and software, it is on their rules. Here, those rule include “no ads”. If you want ads either persuade them to change the rules (through feedback) or go elsewhere.
There will be many here, though, opposed to putting more ads on the blogs. I say “more” as Automattic put some on sometimes.
Again, though – their server, their rules. If you do not like them, you are free to go.

And learning respect is a good thing wherever one is or decides to go.

A search of the faq for ‘adsense’ would get the correct result.

A search of this forum for ‘adsense’ gets answer in the first post.

Apparent difficulties in finding the information aside, there seems to be little value in keeping this thread going either.
If you wish to continue I would suggest your blog is the appropriate page.

    Thread closed.
