New blogroll category not showing
-
Hi
Today I created a new category in my blogroll called “Definitions/How To…” and assigned some new links to it. However, neither this category nor the links are showing up on the page. When in Blogroll>Manage Blogroll the Currently Showing drop-down menu options are only “All”, “Other Places” and “Recipes” (my two other categories) and the new category isn’t showing. However, it does show in Blogroll>Add Link categories.
Can someone please tell me in what way I am being stupid? Thanks.

You are not stupid; you are new. And we’ll work this out in no time. Please follow step by step the instructions in the exact order I will give you in just a few moments. Hang in I’ll be back right away, okay?
Edit: I’m back.
(1) All new categories are entered here => Manage => Categories => Add New (complete the required fields) then click on the “Add Category” button to save your data.
(2) All new links are entered here => Blogroll => Add Link => (a)complete the required fields and (b) assign the link entered to the Category then click on the “Add Link” button to save your data.
(3) You must drag and drop the Links widget into the sidebar in order to have the links you entered into your Blogroll display in your sidebar. When they do display they will appear in alphabetical order in accord with the Category you assigned the specific link to when you entered it into your Blogroll.
Once the Categories and Links widgets are placed in your sidebar then please take note that Categories do not display until there is one post that you have assigned to that category published or one link assigned in your Blogroll to that Category.
(4) This will help with the set up and configuring of widgets. Also note that in the troubleshooting section you will find instructions that do apply to your situation.

I hope you understood my explanation. I have looked at your blog and see that you do not have the either the Categories widget or the Links widget placed in your sidebar as yet but, the link I gave you in (4) above is to instructions for exactly how to do that in a step by step way. :)

I’m afraid I had already done all that stuff and it hasn’t worked. I do have the category and link widgets placed in my sidebar – if they’re not at the top of the page, scroll down to the bottom – they are there! I even did exactly what you said again with a test link, but no dice.
In Manage>Categories the category “Definitions/How To…” has 4 links assigned to it. And yet they’re still not showing up. :(

I see your categories now. I also see Other Places and they are links. Oh dear … :( I’m afraid you need to send a feedback in to staff.

This is happening to me, too! I added new links last night to my blogroll, and assigned the category of “crafty blogs” and they did not show up on my sidebar. BUT, when I switched those links to a “unclassified links” category, they display on my sidebar just fine. Until last night I had all of my links under the generic “Blogroll” and I added 4 categories– three of the 4 work. “crafty blogs” doesn’t even appear on the “currently showing” dropdown list on the Blogroll Management page. Help, please?

As a follow-up to my OP, after a couple of days the new category showed up, without me doing anything. So perhaps just give it some time.

Thanks for the quick responses! I will just wait… obviously just something goofy going on here :)
