We’re a small non-profit organization, currently with Yahoo and when we initially signed the price was $25, but the price was inflated to $119. Is your Business price of $25 the standard price? What will cause it to increase if we stay with the standard? Are there any additional costs? We believe we know the free themes, which we will select, and we are aware that the domain is free for the first year and $18 (per year) thereafter.
Can our current site at Yahoo be transferred to WordPress.com? If so, how?
What will be the cost if we wanted someone from WordPress.com to look at our current site and rebuild from that?

Hi there,

The cost of our Business plan has not changed in several years, and while I do not have insight into any future changes, I don’t expect any changes in the near term.
The primary advantage of the Business plan is the ability to upload “plugins” or “themes” created by other providers to “work on WordPress” so you are not limited to what we offer as pre-installed. However, it can be the case that some premium plugin/theme vendors may charge their own prices… our upgrade plan would not cover those kinds of expenses, so that is difficult for me to predict.
But if your needs are for a fairly simple site without avanced functionality such as ecommerce, online booking calendars, real estate listings, event ticketing sales/management then you likely will not have any additional fees.
Can our current site at Yahoo be transferred to WordPress.com? If so, how?
I’m not clear on what Yahoo offers in terms of website building tools but I believe what they have is proprietary and may not allow you to export to WordPress since it is a different system. You may need to check with Yahoo support and ask what their site export options are, and if they have any suggestions for moving your site to WordPress.
What will be the cost if we wanted someone from WordPress.com to look at our current site and rebuild from that?
We do not provide site design services here on WordPress.com, but the Business plan does come with 24/7 live chat support, and we’re happy to help you with any questions you have along the way. We also offer “quick start” support sessions via video (with screen sharing) as well, which is nice to use to set a game plan if you are just getting started, or to get some of our help with a specific task you are stuck on: https://wordpress.com/support/quickstart-support/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
