New dashboard
-
@mtdewvirus: Would you like to put a link to this post from the WP.com blog in your sticky thread on the new dashboard: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/the-many-ways-to-configure-your-new-dashboard/
I think more people come to the forums than the blog for that kind of help, so it would be good to point them in that direction.

Good idea rosclarke. Personally, I think all functions should be disabled on the new dashboard (including clicking on the hidden links for support/forums, publishing, etc.) until a person is determined to have read the manual. Much like how many can’t download new software, till they read the fine print, and click yes or no. I mean, this is new software. :)

The only problem is that most people don’t read the fine print, or any print for that matter. It has been discussed a million times – what is the effective way to direct forum comers to the right place? There isn’t, because in the end people will just bypass the stickies, click “I have read this” and post a new thread.
