    When I added a new text widget, it erased the text in the widget below.

    Oh, I run Firefox and Windows Vista.

    @ cendanahigh85

    just do what i do (read my post above), use firefox browser.

    And how do I decide which sidebar I have my widgets in? Using Andreas09 3 column. In the old version I could “see” both my sidebars and adjust accordingly. I can’t do that now.

    Give me the old setup back – PLEASE!

    @balnu147,

    I believe I have followed all your instructions, but still, my widget dashboard seems completely unmanageable. Here is the url of the printscreen:

    As you can see, there is nothing under “current widgets”, besides “Recent Posts” and there are no “edit” links in the widgets shown under “available widgets”, with the filter “show all widgets”. I wonder if the new design works for all themes.

    I hope it does, because Blix is the only one that really fits all my needs.

    I don’t like this new system! It’s too much trouble, the other version was straightforward.

    When I try to edit my text widget it just dissapears now. Arg! Why did wordpress switch? The old dashboard at least worked.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yeah, same problems. one of my text widgets don’t even have a link to edit it, much less remove it. How are we suppose to change the sidebar when the widgets don’t have any links to work with?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Can we “opt out” of this new management system? It’s awful. I am having a world or problems. My biggest problem is the same one listed above – I cannot edit text widgets b/c I can only read half of the box. Also, I cannot copy and paste anything in my text widgets.

    I’ve just wasted ninety minutes trying to figure out how to move widgets, add widgets and change their order. All I’ve done is messed up my blog, because the new dashboard doesn’t work. I hate it! I used to love WordPress because of its ease of use. That’s all gone now, with the new dashboard.

    There is a remove and change button but you can’t get to it because it is on the left bottom corner of the text box and that is hidden. If you expose it by dragging the whole widget, you cant click on it! Unitl this nightmare is fixed, if you need to get rid of a text widget, delete all the text in the box including the title, then drag the widget down to the bottom of your list. It wont show up then.

    I also just noticed that the FAQ on widgets still shows and describes the old text widget procedures so no help there!

    I have tried adding widgets and the best I get is a grey empty square in my sidebar. It does not look like they are being saved at all. The Change/Remove option seems awkward compared to the old fashioned Save option.

    And I was about to post that I just figured that those widgets must have been javascript and therefore no go (sigh).

    @raincoaster:

    1. Go to design > widgets – Ok!
    2. Click on the text widget edit link – There is “NO” edit link!!
    3. Copy the content of the widget to the clipboard – Well, since there is NO edit link anywhere to be seen, I’m going to have a hard time proceeding to this step and the next ones you are describing. That is what is really frustrating me here!

    I have been several times to your step-by-step instructions set, but it’s not helping me the least, since I get stuck at step 2. Sorry for sounding a bit aggressive, but this is really messed up and it doesn’t seem to me that I’ve done anything wrong. I have tried following several poeple’s instructions, all of them involving an “edit” link, which I have never been able to locate on my widget dashboard. I have already posted a print screen of it and I’m putting the link to the JPEG here again, hoping someone can help me: http://greypowered.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/printscreen_wordpresswidgets_040708.jpg

    I’m using Flock for a browser and my WordPress theme is Blix.

    Otherwise, the only way around this I can see now is to switch to a theme, which has no or almost no widget column, so they’ll all get deleted and then switch back to Blix and add them again one by one. It’s really tedious work, so if I can avoid this, that would be great.

    Thank you in advance for your patience and help!

    I’m using the SUNBURN theme, and the ‘Recent Posts’ widget is messed up. There’s a cheeky little string of code showing, take a look on the right hand side of my blog: http://madnice.wordpress.com.

    I’ve edited it endlessly to no avail, as well as removed and re-added it, but the result is always the same.

    I hope this gets resolved soon, because it looks really terrible!

    Did you do something to resolve it, or did it resolve without action on your part?

    @ abeldi, those aren’t my instructions, they’re just the best ones I could find. None of us have done anything wrong, but we are finding as we work through the bugs that there’s much more variation in each blogger’s experience depending on a complex matrix of factors including browser and other software versions.

    From that screenshot I would say that your blog might need personal staff intervention. It COULD be a Flock issue, but then why is it showing “Recent Posts” on the widget page? Send in a Support ticket tomorrow if this is still happening and staff haven’t posted again to this thread (they have yellow backgrounds when they make a post).
