New domain

  i just created a new domain, kirispowell.com within mckinneyellisclan, but it doesn’t go to that address. How do I get it to behave as it’s own site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Howdy,

  Currently, it looks like you have two domains, both associated with the same WordPress.com site:

  • kirispowell.com
  • theashantidrum.com

  Both of those domains are associated with theashantidrum.wordpress.com. If you would like kirispowell.com to be a separate site, we’ll need to transfer it to another WordPress.com blog on your account.

  So, we have two options:

  1. I can transfer the domain to your other site mckinneyellisclan.wordpress.com
  2. You can create another blog following the instructions here:

     http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/#adding-new-blog-to-an-existing-account

     Then, I could transfer the domain to your new blog

  Let me know how you would like to proceed!

  The transfer is already complete. The blog kirispowell.wordpress.com is now loading your custom domain kirispowell.com on my side. Can you let me know if you’re still having trouble?

  Hi Kiris!

  You can’t upload themes purchased elsewhere to WordPress.com (only self-hosted versions of WordPress). You can read more about that here:

  Can you point me to the theme that you purchased elsewhere? I’m happy to help you find a comparable theme at WordPress.com!

  Thanks for pointing that out! It looks like an audio-specific theme. While we don’t have a theme that matches that exactly, we do have three that are focused on audio content:

  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/promenade/
  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/tuned-balloon/

  Would either of those work for what you’re looking for?

  Hi Jeff,

  I did see these, and I thought they were similar as well. I was hoping there were some free, or lower cost themes, since it doesn’t appear I can get a refund on the one I purchased from Theme Forest.

  Hey Kiris,

  Oh man – I’m so sorry to hear about the refund at Theme Forest. Please keep in mind that regardless of what theme you choose, you can always embed audio onto your blog as described here:

  Working With Audio

  With that in mind, you might be able to take advantage of another theme and just embed the audio!
