  I want to register a custom domain for my site, but the name is different from the free WordPress address I’m currently using.
  Will upgrading my domain ($18) change my blog site address automatically?

  Hi @janesirius – Registering a custom domain will not change any domains that you have previously registered (free or custom). You can register the custom domain here: http://wordpress.com/start/domains/
