New domain for a free plan
-
Dear wordpress, I would like to have a custom domain name at the cheapest condition (within reason :-) ) . From your help page I understand that to add a custom domain to a free plan including email forwarding costs $18 a year. This can be any of the TLD’s you list (.com, .blog, .org, etc). However when I try to add a custom domain to my blog a £85 yearly plan appears in the shopping cart and as I remove it everything is reset. What am I missing? thanks a lot for your help. Massimo
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Adding a domain to your site (either registering a new domain or mapping one you already own) requires a WordPress.com plan. See https://wordpress.com/pricing/ for more information.

Dear Tony, thank you for you answer. I already have a plan, it is the free plan. However I cannot add a domain without also adding the premium plan. THis is actually my problem.
Do you mean that with a free plan I cannot add a domain?
Thanks Massimo

You need to have a Personal, Premium or Business plan.
