New domain name

  Hi, I started to process to purchase a new domain name but then messed up so I closed the browser and started over. When I entered the domain name I wanted, the pop up said it was taken. Now I don’t know how to get back to it.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hello,

  The name for the new domain is fern.glazier.online. I am also going to move over to WordPress from Host Papa for my blog effgee’s World (effgeesworld-world.com) in the next week or so.

  Hello Fern,

  “fern.glazier.online” is not a domain, as such. glazier.online is, and that domain is currently registered with GoDaddy.com – it looks like it has been registered with them since September 2018.

  fern.glazier.online is a subdomain on that domain. To use a subdomain like that with your WordPress.com site, you’d need our domain mapping upgrade, rather than a custom domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/

  fern.glazier.online is not currently connected to any site on WordPress.com, so you should be able to add that subdomain. But that’s only possible if you’re the person who owns the domain glazier.online at GoDaddy.

  Go to My Site ->Manage ->Domains ->Add Domain, and select the option to use a domain you already own. Then add in your subdomain and select the Mapping option.

  As per the support page above, you’ll also need to make a change to the DNS on GoDaddy’s end to point that subdomain to us.
