New Domain – New Site

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,
I bet this is easy but I’m not sure how to frame the question to get easy help!

I’ve registered a new domain on WordPress and I want this domain to be standalone – have its own blog and be used for a podcast – I’m intending to use Blubrry’s plugin. How do I set it up as its own entity?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @thepatrickpost ,

I understand, it can be hard framing a question when you’re not quite sure of all the technical jargon. Let me see if I can help. :)

From your question, I presume you already had a site with WordPress.com, and you have added a new domain. If so, then now when you click on “My Sites” at the top left of your screen, right underneath that you should see the words “Switch Site”. This will give you a screen of all the sites you manage with your WordPress.com account. Basically, each domain exists as a separate site already and you will switch between sites from here on to edit them. If you see each site listed under “Switch Site”, then your new site is already its own entity!

Now, as you mentioned you want to use a plugin with this new site, you will have to get the Business plan for that site. Each site is operated on a different plan/subscription, so you will have to take out this new plan regardless of what your current site was using.

But the best news of all is, when you take out the Business plan, you get access to live-chat and email support with staff! You can continue using these forums for your enquiries, for sure! But now you will have access to professional support from staff members that will be able to see your site setting and help you better than we can usually help you here in the forums.

So, if you have any further questions, you can write back here or you could start a chat session from this link.

    All the best!
