New domain problems
-
Yesterday I registered my domain annesattic-desterign.com through cheapregister.com. Then I came to my wordpress site and mapped my new domain and paid $13.00. When followers click on the new domain a page from cheapregister.com comes up and not my blog site. I called cheapregister.co and they said that it was wordpress’s problem. How do I get my blog back up and running?

Hello there!
While you’ve added domain mapping to your WordPress.com site, you haven’t yet changed your name servers at cheapregister.com. This is easily remedied!
Basically, when you have a domain name you want to “point” to your WordPress.com site, you need to change the domain’s name servers. In other words, you are telling your domain the address of the server where your website is located.
Here are the instructions for mapping a domain you already own:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domainYou need to change your name servers (with CheapRegister.com) to point to WordPress.com. They should be:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comOnce you’ve got your domain’s name servers set up properly with your registrar, you should be good to go.
Just a word of warning, after adjusting your name servers, it can take several hours for those changes to appear properly internet-wise. So, don’t worry if things don’t work correctly immediately. This is totally normal.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
