New Domain Registration through WordPress
-
I just registered a new sub domain through WordPress: Mysonshines.com. It now directs to my domain page through WordPress: aliciasakal.com.
I want mysonshines.com to point to a new WordPress Page of its own, and eventually include it on my main domain site: aliciasakal.com
Right now, I want to customize mysonshines.worpress.com so I can create my new blog / site. WP says that this already exists. I do not see it as existing for me though and cannot select on it to customize it. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Alicia!
You’ll need to create a new blog on your account as explained here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/#adding-new-blog-to-an-existing-account
You should be able to create mysonshines.worpress.com as I’m not seeing that blog being owned by another user.
Please let me know once you create the new blog and if you have any trouble! Once you create the new blog, I will move your domain (mysonshines.com) to your new blog so everything will work correctly!

I have tried this multiple times, just tried again, and WP tells me that it is taken. Please advise: mysonshines.wordpress.com

Sorry, that site already exists!
However the following blog addresses are available:
mysonshines.co
mysonshines.org
mysonshines.net
mysonshines.me
mysonshinesblog.com -
Hi Alicia,
I really apologize for the oversight. It appears as though mysonshines.wordpress.com actually does already exist and is owned by another user. However, you should be able to register a blog like mysonshinesblog.wordpress.com. Then, you could register a custom domain like mysonshines.co. That way, your readers would only see mysonshines.co. Would that work?
Again, I apologize for the mistake!

I bought the domain name without a problem through the WP website. This person does Not own mysonshines.com.
At first, I thought maybe mysonshines.wordpress.com was just a WP placeholder mockup of some sort initially. What is your policy for inactive accounts? It looks like this person hasn’t done anything with the blog since 2009, at first glance.
Thanks!

Hey Alicia,
My mistake again! I do see that you were able to register mysonshines.com. Apologize again for the mixup.
Regarding inactive accounts, we do not release WordPress.com URLs again after they have been initially registered regardless of whether the owner deletes the blog or never touches it. You could try contacting the owner through the information on their site (I can’t provide it to you). If they agree to switch over ownership, I can transfer that blog to you. The request would need to come from the current owner of mysonshines.wordpress.com.
Alternatively, you could register mysonshinesblog.wordpress.com, which is available (I’m sure of it :) ). Then, I could transfer your domain mysonshines.com to that site. Visitors would then only see mysonshines.com, not the mysonshinesblog.wordpress.com URL. Would that work?

Ok. I just registered that one: mysonshinesblog.wordpress.com
Please have mysonshines.com point to that page instead of aliciasakal.com.
If I can do it myself then please send me the link to where on WP.
Much thanks!

Hi Jeremy,
Is there a time delay with this change? The reason being, mysonshines.com is still pointing to aliciasakal.com
Please double check.
THX.

Hi Alicia,
It can take a few hours for this change to take effect, but it looks like everything is working correctly now on my side. If you’re still having trouble, can you try clearing your browser’s cache? Instructions can be found here:
Let me know if that clears it up!
