New editing format

    I attempted to try the new editing format earlier today when I wanted to create a new post. Although not averse to change; the old system was very simple to use; but the new one appears ‘complicated for being complicated’s sake’.
    The new box system appears to leave a blank line between each paragraph; which isn’t my ‘house style’ and more importantly for me when I tried to link a YouTube video (another USP for my site) it didn’t ‘show’ on the page; but only as a link to the YouTube website.
    I now find this will be the default editing style when an update comes through next week……which is disappointing, as I will now have to change my ‘style’ while learning a new skill that I hadn’t budgeted for.

  • Hi there,

    The new box system appears to leave a blank line between each paragraph;

    Instead of hitting return with each paragraph change you can press Shift + Return. This will create a new paragraph without creating a new block and it resembles the way the old editor worked.

    when I tried to link a YouTube video (another USP for my site) it didn’t ‘show’ on the page; but only as a link to the YouTube website.

    On the new editor, embeds like YouTube videos require their own block. This actually makes it easier to move them to any part of your text.

    If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
