New editing interface problems

I can’t use the new editor – it’s incredibly clunky on loading, displays improperly, and when I start typing in the text box, *nothing* happens. Yes, my browser is probably the problem – i am on an older Mac Tower (pre-Intel), and cannot upgrade my browser or my computer right now, but I would like to be able to post on my own blog, if possible.
Is there any way to access what is called “classic mode”?

It looks like you are using a version of Firefox from 2011.
We can’t assure that all functionality on WordPress.com is compatible with outdated browsers, and it’s very possible that updates we’ve made on WordPress.com will no longer work in your browser version.
If you cannot update your operating system due to an older Mac, you will run into these issues across the internet with increasing frequency.
One idea I found in the Mozilla support forum (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/894856):
For older Macs that aren’t supported in Firefox 4 thru 8, try TenFourFox for PowerPC’s running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
This is essentially a different version of the Firefox browser for older machines, built on top of the Mozilla open source code. I can’t promise it will help, but it may be worth a shot as a stopgap until you can get a newer machine that can run current software.
As far as the editor itself, you might try the full post editor in your Dashboard instead, as that may work for you.

I was able to post via the dashboard as you suggested (although adding a link required hand-coding). Thanks!

I’m glad you were able to get things to work in the Dashboard, and I’m sorry my other suggestion didn’t work.
