New editor 5 – annoying bugs

    Some of my observations with the new editor.

    5) There are very annoying, obviously unchecked new bugs: if you click in the place you want to edit, the screen will jump away to an undesired location. Inserting any image became strikingly elongated and difficult. The ‘code editor’ is unthinkably awkward.

    I think I will need a more specific example because I have not encountered issues of clicking on a particular block to edit it and having this response. I know it is a little harder to click on empty blocks, but I still don’t get the response you described. I responded in the image post regarding image support pages that may help you with inserting images.

    I agree, you can see and feel the problem only in the practice. But I cannot make a video with this problem. If you try to put the cursor (in editing mode) anywhere in any block, the screen will jump away.
    BTW I guess the main problem is the block concept. I daresay there are people who love it. But why does WP think that it is all users’ first preference? Why is it so important to make their lives unbearable?

    I agree, you can see and feel the problem only in the practice. But I cannot make a video with this problem.

    Is there a particular reason you are unable to take a video of the issue? We’ve tried on our end but have not had a click “jump away” so it feels like we may not be doing it in exactly the same way that you are. If you can record a video of what you are doing it will help us to see exactly what is going on; at the moment we’re flying kinda blind.

    What if you try a free screen recording software like https://screencast-o-matic.com/screen-recorder and share the video to us via Google drive?

    yes, I have a special reason: I don’t know how to do it. However, fortunately, it is not needed: I described the problem accurately w/o any video.

  • We cannot reproduce the issue as described, so we will need a way to see it in action from your end. A video is the best way to present that.

    Alternatively, since we cannot reproduce the issue, it may be a conflict with something in your browser specifically.

    First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

    If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

    If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
