This, surely, has to be the worst ever WP downgrade. I just tried to use it. How frustrating, For a serious blogger then surely the most important feature is the text box. WP obviously do not agree. It is compressed into a tiny space, It is relegated to the bottom of the screen and as an editing tool is completely useless!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Andrew,

There is a bug with new editor that specifically affects Windows 8.1 and causes some of the issues you describe — the spacing issues and the editor box ending up at the bottom of the screen. Our team is investigating that bug.

I recognize that you’re frustrated and would encourage you to use the classic editor if you prefer it:

If the links to the new editor are bothersome to you, you might be happier self-hosting your site using the WordPress.org software. That way you can continue using just the classic WordPress interface and have full control over how your dashboard appears. We have more details about Moving a Blog if you decide to go that route.

The new editor is awful. Can I get the old one back?

@lmurphymon2 — You’re welcome to continue using the classic editor if you prefer it.

To get there from https://wordpress.com/ you can click on “My Sites” in the upper left, and then click on “WP Admin” in the sidebar to open the classic WP Admin dashboard. You can view your existing posts under Posts > All Posts and start a new post under Posts > Add New.

Also, if you can share specific things that don’t work well for you in the new editor, I’d be happy to share that feedback with our team!

thanks. the main problem is I cant scroll categories beyond “C” when I label my posts. but generally I still prefer the old editor.

Thanks for letting me know! If you start typing other category names you’ll see them appear there (categories starting with letters beyond “C”). Other people have also mentioned that they don’t like how that works, so our team is considering other ways to display the categories there. That said, you can certainly continue to use the classic editor instead if you’re more comfortable with it.
