New Editor Design: Feedback Thread

Can;t find a place for old editor questions. I need help. I heard you took away the underline function because it caused confusion with links. If so, why is there still an underline function in the new editor. Please stop medding with those of us who prefer the oklder editor.

Now I cannot add a llink using the older editor. Why is this? Are you trying to slowly force us to relent and start using the new editor (which I do not like, but love the older, as I’m sure others feel the same)?

Are you slowly getting away from doing anything with the oder editor, even when something stops working? I cannot be the only one who does not like the new edtor and feel confused everytime I am forced to use it.

I have a couple sites using the Chateau theme. On one under Appearances there is Theme Option that allows you to switch sides for the side bar or take it out completely. It also lets you make your background dark or light, and to your posts in summary form. On the other site, Theme Option is NOT available under Appearances. Why is that? I want to change my blogs to the short summary instead of having the screen go right into the next blog.

I strongly prefer the tools and approach of the classic media editor over the new one. Perhaps the solution is to keep the Dashboard option available as an “advanced” option, but the new editor overall, and with the way it handled uploading new images, how it removes the ability to directly link to a YouTube video, isn’t very good. Please keep the advanced editor functions, especially image and video handling as robust as possible. Don’t let your business decisions to funnel us into your platforms overrule those things that are actually good for writers and self-publishers who’ve been doing this a while.

  • @hemmingplay you’re welcome to bookmark /wp-admin and use that. You can link to youtube videos though. If you want a link rather than embedding the video, paste the link not on its own line, or highlight a word and paste the link over it to automatically create a link on that word.

  • @calensariel and @smmbcj can you start a new thread if you haven’t already? This thread is about feedback on editor updates. It’s not an ideal place for support since replies notify so many people.

  • We’re going to go ahead and close this thread since most questions now are about wp-admin and this thread is about updates to the Calypso editor interface at wordpress.com/post . Cheers, all :)
