New Editor is annoying – Please let us choose
-
New Editor (Beep Beeb Boop) is a daily annoyance! For several reasons I prefer classic editor for my work with new articles at politropolis.wordpress.com. With the new editor I have always to switch an go back into the dashboard and menu system for copying oder connecting to older aritcles. Today I found that som functions are disabled in classic editor to force users to switch to the new one. Please let us chosoe and don´t force us to accept this “impovement”. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should be able to switch to classic editor by clicking on Switch to classic mode link on the lower right hand corner of the screen.
What do you think is missing in the classic editor?

I agree with husadmin. It seems that when I log in and am in the new editor my two choices are to read other blogs or to create a new post. What if I want to manage/add media? Delete spam? Or just check stats? The only way to get to the old left hand sided menu bar is to switch to pretend to create a new post and then switch to the classic editor which is a pain.
It would be nice if I could elect the classic editor and have it be a permanent election rather than one that gets cleared every time I clear my cookies.
Thanks for considering.

Hello, now after this new editor a new statistic view is shown, also. It´s worse. Maybe it is better for smartphones but not for normal editing and viewing at desktop computers. Pls. let users have buttons for preselection which editor and which statsview we´d like to have as standard. These improvements are no improvements for my use. Our authors think the same way.

Hi everyone!
You can set your account to default to the classic editor using the link chaitanyamsv mentioned above.
I’m happy to pass on any specific feedback you have about either the editor or the new stats page. Here are a few questions that may help. Does it do something unexpected? Does it interrupt your workflow? Is it distracting in some way?

This sounds incredibly frustrating. As far as I know, we did not disable anything in the classic editor. Can you tell me what you’re missing and I can take a look?

I agree that the experience is a little disjointed right now. The goal is to have it all come together and feel more cohesive in the end. Currently, you can check your stats by click on “My Sites” in the upper left corner:

Thank you very much Shawna–it looks like some very positive changes have been made–clicking on “My Sites” now gives the option to go to classic mode and also presents a number of other options which make navigation much easier than it was before. I’m happy now–thank you to you and your team.

Hi, I don’t like the new editor either, and I’m still trying to find out what has happened to my traffic since Nov 22

If this resets the default post editor, then why do I have to reset it every day? I reset it today for about the 200th time in the last three months.

@chrisdeacon02 – the changes we’ve made has no affect on your traffic. If you’d like help digging into your stats to see what’s causing the dip, please start a new thread.

Do you clear your cookies when you close your browser? Or work in a private or incognito window?
Private browsing, with cookies accepted from WordPress and other websites as selected.
-
FWIW I never use private browsing. Why would I notify any site that I don’t want to be tracked, given that they do not have to comply, and that me using that incognito setting may be a flag for them do do the exact opposite?

Why would I notify any site that I don’t want to be tracked, given that they do not have to comply…
Please explain to us how preventing websites from storing cookies on our computers does not stop them from tracking us with those cookies. Could they track our behavior in other ways? Undoubtedly. So you take other steps to prevent the various methods of tracking.

@musicdoc1
Your private browsing incognito setting is actually lame. I don’t have the time to compose a post on this but trust me when I say there are many methods of cyber tracking that can be employed and are employed every day online. You may be able to defeat issue by using Tor and combining this with fingerprinting but it would only be helpful in a narrow range of cases. More than that I cannot and do not wish to share.
