New editor vs old efitor
-
I used to work as freelance web designer and used WordPress extensively. I guess one could say i knew how it works and what crappy little annoying quirks it had here or there with the editing.
But now this Gutenberg or whatever you call it now block editor – sorry fellows, no matter what great additional pony tricks this new editor maybe capable of doing to the frontend, the editor stinks, completely un- intuitive. People don’t want to spend 3 years of studying this nonsense before they figured it all out, they want to look at it once and have the ‘aha’ feeling that tells them they know how this works right away.
Total failure in my point of view. -
We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
For more details, please see https://wordpress.com/blog/2020/08/13/the-classic-editing-experience-is-moving-not-leaving/
We do recommend the new editor though, and we have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
