New email subscribers not showing up on Users page

    I see that people have signed up for email notifications from Statcounter, but the email addresses do not show up on my Users page, and I get no emails indicating that someone has signed up. In fact, there is only Subscribers now as an option on the Users page. There used to be both a Subscribers and Email Followers list. Regardless, I’m not seeing any new emails on the Users page for either and haven’t for several months. My harddrive crashed a few months ago…could that have something to do with it?

    Hello,

    I want to explain that I’m not familiar with the Statcounter plugin, and if people are signing up through that service, they will not appear in the Users/Subscribers page on your dashboard. Only users who have signed up using the Subscriber block will show up there, and it doesn’t seem that you are using that block on your site currently.

    Additionally, the data shouldn’t be saved on your computer hard drive but rather in your site’s database files. I suggest contacting the Statcounter plugin’s support team to help troubleshoot the issue.     Thanks for writing to us. It sounds like there’s some miscommunication between the statcounter tool and your WordPress.com setup. I don’t think this is related to the hard drive failure.

    Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to check for any necessary updates from Statcounter. I would also suggest that you reach out to them and see if there’s a known problem that matches your experience.

    On WordPress.com we take care of your software updates for the site and you don’t need to worry about that bit. Let me know what you find out.
