New Feedjit code – Javascript?

  • Unknown's avatar

The feedjit.com site tracker has introduced a new widget that relies on Javascript to operate. Here on wordpress.com, we can’t use Javascript in the Text widget.

Is there any chance this might change in the future — perhaps a Feedjit widget in the dashboard?

    Thanks!

    Hello there,
I’m here to tell you, I already have a Feedjit widget for WordPress.com as do many others. While it’s true that we cannot use the Javascript version, the version we do have works very well for providing real time metrics as a complement to our wordpress.com stats program.

It is highly unlikely that wordpress will allow user installed javascript. This is a multi-user platform which means we all use the same underlying files, and any security issue or bad code introduced by one blogger could bring down many.

Whether .COM will end up working with Feedjit on some code they can install in the backend (can’t be modified by users) or not is anyone’s guess. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Feedjit is so pop that I strange WP hadn’t released any shortcode for reg users…Let’s hope for God’s Mercy??

If it helps, here’s the link for the non-javascript for Feedjit. I installed it this morning and
    it’s running beautifully.

    Hope this helps.

The non-javascript version of feedjit It’s running beautifully on many wordpress.com blogs. :) It’s also not the only live traffic non-javascript program we can use on worpress.com blogs. We can use whosumungus, clustrymaps and get clicky as well. The latter provides far more information than the others do. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/06/getclicky-real-time-stats-for-wordpress-com-blogs/
