New Flickr Widget Problems
-
This is copy from the Flickr widget setup screen, where user could put the rss.
“Leave the Flickr RSS URL blank to display interesting Flickr photos. (feed)”
-
And when you follow that link under the ‘feed’, what do you get? :) (ie 404)
Feedback about the error sent.
-
I am also having that problem. I’ve copied “link location” and pasted in. I have 10 photos uploaded to my account, created a set with them etc., but I always get that
white box! -
Awakened, we need to know specifically what you’re putting in the widget for us to help you.
If you’ll note on the Flickr widget on your blog, you’ll note that all teh links point back to your blog so something didn’t get entered correctly.
-
My photos sometimes dissapear from the widget, leaving just the white. They return again later (can be hours rahter than minuts). I assume its a problem at the flickr end.
With reegard to the missing images but links appearing problem, that is what happens when a flickr feed is a ‘summarised’ feed rather than being a ‘full text’ feed.
I know this because I run my flickr feed thru feedburner and I observed this behavious whilst playing with the summary/full feed option.
-
Cubby, that’s either a problem with Flickr, there’s an issue with a server or connection somewhere between you and flickr or you’re behind some sort of proxy server that’s not working fully.
Awaken’s links are now showing up instead of what was there before. I’m guessing that he or she is only taking the summary feed as you note.

Just revisited flickr widget and still can’t seem to get the correct url inserted. Here’s a couple of examples
Would like readers to see:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/anartist/sets/358167/or
http://www.flickr.com/photos/16624693@N00/sets/72057594132829673/Both of these URLs point to differen(the wrong) photos….
Also tried:
http://www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=awakenedwarrior
and several derivatives there ofI’m stymied
What say you???? -
You have a number of issues with your page.
1) I serious suggest using thumbnails. Do you realize that some of your pics are over 100kb in size. That takes over 30 seconds each just to download each one and I see 4 of them right off.
2) In addition, you’ll note that your sidebar is to the bottom of the page. That’s because some of your picture are too wide and is forcing the sidebar out of alignment. You might want to review the FAQ covering the subject.
3) You’re pointing at pictures still on your hard drive within this post. That you can not do. They have to be uploaded.
4) I can’t help you if you change the widget while I’m trying to look at it. :)
-
Can anybody tell me what I’m doing wrong when I insert:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/awakenedwarrior/
or
http://www.flickr.com/photos/anartist/sets/358167/
or
http://www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=awakenedwarrior
etc…etc…etc..I keep getting someone else’s photos
Thanks

Mike-I’m not pointing at pictures still on my hard drive–all pictures have been uploaded…but I’ll use thumbnails as you sugges…I was under the impression that the Flickr widget tool would point to the specific flickr account photos..what does this have to do with harddrive photos??
A.W.4) I can’t help you if you change the widget while I’m trying to look at it. :)
Whoops…sorry!!

Anya, we can’t help you if you don’t tell us what the issue that you are having, what specifically you’ve done, and provide a link to your site. :)

Yeah, sorry to be another person with this Flickr widget not working. I changed nothing with that widget but have been working on my site and recently noticed the text link only “More Photos” which appears to link back to my blog URL (actually it just opens to a blank page)?
EDIT: Nevermind I just “reset” it to hold 3 photos, and I will try going back to 1, hope that solves it? Yep, that worked. :) Sorry to bother you. Hope it works for others having this problem.

Just started a new blog with WordPress and I’m trying to add a Flickr widget. I’ve read through this thread and tried various things, but it only ever says “More Photos” and either links back to the blog or to someone else’s photos on Flickr.
My blog is: http://selenasd.wordpress.com/
My Flickr page is:
The link I’m using in the widget right now is: http://flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=selenasd (because of a suggestion from this thread)
But I’ve also tried feed://flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=selenasd
and feed://www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=74672073@N00&format=rss_200
and http://www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=74672073@N00&format=rss_200 -
This one works:
http: //www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=74672073@N00&format=rss_200
I added a space after the colon to get it to show up here. When you copy and paste it, you’ll have to remove the colon for it to work.
Note to other readers who come accross this thread. In the widget, it shows you were to get the feed from. Do a right click on your flick page over the word feed, and “Copy Link” That’s what you paste into the widget.
Hope this helps,
