I received a Congratulations for a new Follower but his name never was added to my Stats, Insights, Total WordPress.com Followers: What would cause that problem?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The Follower said he went to Reader & clicked on Manager to turn ON Emails For New Posts. He did not receive an email from WordPress.com saying Confirmed subscription to posts but I received a Congratulations for a new Follower from WordPress.com. He should have been added to my Followers group in Stats. I had just set up a Widget at the bottom of each page so an invited member could click on to Follow & he said it already had said Following before he went to Reader to turn On Emails For New Posts. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @PatG2222

Can you check again and see if your followers are updated now? If not, please have the person who is trying to follow your site get in touch with us so we can troubleshoot why it’s not working for them.

I have a member on my WordPress website that signed up to Follow my website. I received an email from WordPress:
>[redacted] is now following 1961mhs<
She did not receive an email from WordPress that confirmed it:
>Confirmed subscription to posts on 1961mhs<
Also, her User Name was not added to my Following list.

Now another member has signed up to Follow my website. I received the notice from WordPress that she is now Following the website & her User Name was added to my Following list but she never received an email from WordPress to Confirm her subscription.

Please help me find out why the 1st member was not added to my Following list & why neither member received a confirmation to their subscription.

Hi @PatG2222,

Email confirmations are only sent for follows if the follow includes an email subscription (instant, daily, or weekly). So if email notifications are turned off, they won’t get anything, though they will still be following your site in the Reader.

For the person who followed your site but is not appearing in your list of subscribers, they may have subsequently unfollowed your site. If that was unintentional, they can check the list of sites they are following here:
