new followers signing up to recieve emails
-
I am new at blogging and am wondering how to do something. When I clicked on my daughter’s blog (through wordpress) I got a pop up window where I could enter my email to receive updates when she posts. It was very easy. On my blog my dad went to do the same thing and the pop up window came up, later than my daughter’s, but it required him to register. How do I set it up so people can just simply enter their email without registering? He even has a wordpress account already.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Did you know that any member can go to the blog URL in question and click the “follow” link on their Admin bar and then read the posts in the WordPress.com Reader?

You can set up email subscriptions here > Appearance > Widgets > Follow Blog Widgets by using this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
If you would like a follow button to appear on the bottom right hand corner of your site for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts see here >

You can customize the contact form with multiple fields, change the email address where you’ll be notified, and mark feedbacks as spam from your dashboard. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

Note: As a spammer prevention you are limited to sending out 10 invitations at one point in time. Then wait and send out 10 more. -
Ahh…ok, so to make sure I understand this. If a person who already has a WordPress account goes to the blog they click on their admin link and will see an option to follow and recieve email notifications? If this is correct what will it be called on the admin page?
Then for people who do not have a WordPress account the follow pop will come up automatically and they can just sign up there and not have to register. This option is on all blogs, it is not something I need to set up right?
Thanks!

No. Click my username here and connect to my blog. When you are on my blog look at the top gray Admin bar and find “follow”. Any logged in user of WordPress.com can follow any WordPress.com blog by clicking that link. Read all about it here http://en.support.wordpress.com/following/

Do you understand that if one does not provide an email address in order to register that the software cannot then send them your posts when they are published because it has no email address to send it to?

Thanks for showing me on your blog what it looks like. I do understand that without an email address it can not be sent. That is what I am asking, if you have WordPress how do you get email notifications instead of having to go to your reader?
I feel like I need to remind you I would not be asking if I knew how to do this, I am new at blogging and am still learning. -

When you are logged into WordPress.com and your click to follow the posts automatically appear in your Reader following publication and that cannot be changed. We WordPress.com users set the frequency and method of receipt of posts from blogs we follow.
