New format for 'Writing'/'Editing': Jump Back 10 years!

All of a sudden the writing and editing pages have changed! All the little additional functions are gone. I don’t use ‘Visual’ because that’s really never functioned properly in all the many years I’ve used WordPress, but now, all the ‘point’n’click’ options (like ‘link’, ‘bold’, ‘insert media’ etc.) are gone.
Add to this, the fact that it just took me almost TWO hours to add 2 pages and edit one. That’s a flash-back to about 5, maybe 7 years ago when I started using WordPress. It’s horrific! S.L.O.W. And I keep watching little notifications of ALL sorts of extra doo-dads happening in the back-ground as I wait… and wait… and wait… and my once-hot coffee turns to Summ’ry iced-coffee and then begins to evaporate from the mug… and wait… and wait… and wait…
NO! No! NO! It wasn’t broke. But it appears to be quite done-in at this point.
There’s an old saying: You can’t go back.
Well! Pull out my bell-bottom trousers, platform shoes…. oh never mind those… bobbie-socks and letter-sweater! WordPress has gone WAY back. (Next thing we know, we’ll be connecting to our blogs and there’ll be a nice little lady’s voice asking:
‘Numbuh puhleeuz.’
