New header not being saved

For the first time in years I decided to change my header image in Coraline . Because the image is on my old Mac I uploaded it from there and the trial view looked fine. However it wasn’t showing at all in either of my two main browsers when called up from bookmarks. In fact in Safari a massive square placeholder showed up, as deep as it is wide, white with a blue question mark at centre.

I moved to my current Mac and repeated an upload afresh. The new header – finally – showed up in Firefox, but Safari is still showing a massive white placeholder. What doesn’t Safari like about the new image, which was sized exactly to the allotted space?

PS Safari quite often won’t display a regular jpeg in blog posts, and all you get is the image title in a plain rectangle. Is this a Mac issue?

    Hi!

The good news is that I see your banner in both Chrome and Safari on my Mac (running Yosemite). So, it seems like that issue might be local to you. I’d start with the typical browser stuff, clearing your cache, etc. You can check out this guide for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

Strange! Today I uploaded the same image renamed and it has stuck. What I see in my Media Library are four blank squares from yesterday’s attempts being useless. But thanks for the checklist stothek.
