new here – what am I doing wrong?
-
I just activated my account yesterday and began setting up my blog. I can do a few things right (edit header image, post a 2nd page and post to that page, etc), but i can’t seem to get a post onto my home page unless it is something VERY short, like “xxx” or “test 123…”. Anything that is a paragraph or longer in length – FORGET IT! I keep getting this page asking me if I want to “edit” this post &, no matter which option I pick, the post STILL “disappears”. I have about 5 “welcome to my blog” posts floating around in limbo somewhere right now.
What the heck am I doing wrong??!!

http://indyandy.wordpress.com/ this is your blog, yes?
i saw your about page fine, but there is no posts in the home page.
maybe you could try logging out, then logging in again to see if the problem occurs?
go to dashboard, select write, make sure under that the ‘write post’ tab is selected. then you type a test post. publish it, then go to your home page to see if it’s there. -
that’s not supposed to happen, sounds like a backend problem, which means you have to report to feedback, located at the top right hand corner of your dashboard. you may have to wait a while for feedback to get back to you.
-
What browser are you using and what version is it? Also which editor? (ie Do you have HTML bit or icons along the top?)
We’re seeing this too much but we’ve not gotten any feedback on it. I’m wondering if maybe we’ve hit another TinyMCE bug.

My ISP is AT&T Yahoo! – everything that I do online goes through them. As far as the editor (I am assuming that you mean the “write/edit posts/pages” here on WordPress – right?), it has icons.
Sorry – I’m not the most computer/tech savy guy around: I hope that this is the info that you are looking for!

It sounds like the issue that Raincoaster posted a work-around for here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=6375&page&replies=21#post-41793 -
Go to => Dashboard => Options => Writing
Under the title “Writing Options” you will see:
Size of the post box:____lines
Increase the number of lines and then click “Update Options” to save. -
I’m wondering if your template is one that cuts off longer posts with a link to the rest of the post. Some do that for every entry; try changing the template and see if that solves the problem.

/nod to raincoaster
Hemingway allows only for excerpts (two) on the front page. Fadtastic allows only for one full post on the front page and the rest of the front page allows only titles. -

I just got back from work – thanks for all of the attempts at help! :)
@timethief – I increased the size of the post box: that didn’t help – but I will probably need that modification in the future anyways, so thanks.
@judyb12 – that initial post in your link is EXACTLY what I am encountering! I will try writing to MSworks and using copy/paste for now, but that really is a crutch, not a fix.
Any other suggestions, folks?
thanks in advance.

*UPDATE*
I just tried a couple of different templates – no difference at all in my problem.

did you try the work-around from Raincoaster that i referred you to?
For whatever reason this used to happen to me from time to time. The workaround I found was to highlight all of the post (Control A on my machine) and copy it to the clipboard (control C) and, while everything was still highlighted, hit Publish. Then it went through without the warning coming up. See if that works for you. Even if you lose the post, you’ll still have it on the clipboard and it’s the work of a moment to do another.
I have had to use it once myself, and it worked like a charm.

It looks like I am finally in business!!!
I just wrote a post on MS Works and did a copy/paste job – it worked like a charm!
Thanks again to everyone for your adivce. See you out there in the blogesphere!
