New "improved" edit interface is still deleting numeric tags.

Forum for “Reinstating option to use old format”:
-
Does management ever read the forums? If so, please take note of how FUBAR the editing process has become thanks to “upgrades” claiming to bring users a “new, improved”
They read the forum – they just don’t care
I got the Blue Death editor today when trying to edit an older Post – used to be a cookie that remembered that I wanted the Classic works better editor – no more – the Blue Death Editor sucks – guess that is why we are being forced to use it – nobody wants to use the Blue Death editor for many reasons, since it is a 4th class piece of junk

[rachelmcr] I just confirmed with our team that there aren’t plans to bring that “edit in classic mode” link back to the newer editor. Given that, I’d definitely recommend bookmarking the classic editor in your browser so you can quickly open it to write new posts there.
That is fine, but these other links (“Edit” at bottom of each post, “My sites, Blog posts, Add”… go STRAIGHT to the Beep beep boop.
What is the earth-shaking thing that prevents you from keeping an “edit in classic mode” link to the new editor?
-
Please restore the option to use classic mode.
The recent change has caused frustration and disruption to what had been a positive blogging experience.
-
If you have not done so already and would like to see the return of the link to the Classic Editor from within the New Post Editor, please post in this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-reinstate-the-option-of-choice-to-use-the-old-publishing-format/page/4?replies=97#post-2311491

Please wordpress bring back the option for classic mode, when uploading a new post. It takes far too long to add tags to the post in the new format.
-
Thanks tpenguinltg, for the workaround coding for editing posts using the classic editor. It works perfectly and I recommend it for others wanting to use the classic editor to edit posts. See: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-improved-edit-interface-is-still-deleting-numeric-tags?replies=21#post-2309882
I never used the “Beep, Beep, Boop, too-blue-to-use” editor for a number of reasons including that the adding of tags and categories is not easy. I also use numeric tags so will not be using this not-user friendly editor for new posts or editing older posts.

Update:
The Classic Editor will continue to exist in wp-admin. We know some users prefer to use this editor, so we want you to have access to it, instead of phasing it out with the new version of the Dashboard. However, a link to the Classic Editor will not return to the New Editor. From: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/when-editing-an-old-post-how-do-i-switch-to-the-classic-editor?replies=5#post-2316097

Is there an explanation why the link to Classic Editor is not going to be returned? (I looked at that topic and did not see one–thus, I’m requesting an explanation from WordPress staff here).
-
@seanmunger
A staff member answered it in the main thread on this:As we’ve continued to add to and improve the new editor, we are seeing very low usage of the link back to the Classic Editor.

@seanmunger
There were words said by Staff somewhere in some thread that I don’t want to bother searching for right now that were to the effect of we saw that most people were not using the link to the classic editor that was removed new editor.In essence, I consider the response we receive to be what I call market-speak. IMO they want to market the use of the new editor as a new product and that’s what they are doing.

@kokkieh
Thanks for that link. :)@seanmunger
Oops! I need to edit what I said above.n essence, I consider the response we receive to be what I call market-speak. IMO they want to market the use of the new editor as a new product for improved blogging experience (as if!) and that’s what they are doing.

It seems the other thread is not open for comments, so I will comment here.
Why not bring back the link?
Some people will like it, and it does no-one any harm.
What is the down side? It looks like just plain obstinacy on the part of the developers.Also, if there is no link to the old editor, it’s not very surprising that few people are using it, is it? That doesn’t mean that there are not a significant number of people who prefer it (or would prefer it, if they knew it was there).

@dougaj4
I think someone pointed out earlier (it could have been in a different thread) that the website used to store a cookie in your browser when you clicked that link, so that next time you were taken to the classic editor automatically. So of course fewer people clicked that link – it wasn’t necessary unless the cookie expired or you cleared your browser’s cache. They conveniently ignored this fact when compiling their statistics. -
@kokkieh, actually one would have to delete/clear the cookies for WP. Clearing one’s cache doesn’t clear/delete cookies.
Jeremey responded to my comment on cookies:
“We’ve been tracking the statistic over the full course of the six months since implementation, and it has continued to steadily drop. This wasn’t a judgement based on a handful of weeks of data.”
I think he missed my point about the cookies and how they work. Unless one deletes them, there is no reason to be in the “new, too-blue” editor to click to go back to the classic editor because the classic editor is already opening.
-
@dandelionsalad
Of course, you’re right. I just always do both so I use one term for both actions. The point stands. -
Yes, I often do both as well, but lately been deleting cookies individually after finishing whatever website I was visiting but leaving the WP cookies alone because I didn’t want to see the “new, too-blue” editor. Obviously this was prior to WP eliminating the link back to the classic editor.
I do clear history and cache very often.
-
If you have a mac with the latest OS you don’t have options to pick and choose which cookies to keep when you want to clear your cache they all go and the classic editor disappears. I can’t see the new editor very well, i can’t edit all the things i need doing, the new stats page has been scrunched up so tiny you can’t see without getting headaches but that option for why you hate it isn’t one of the 4 questions.
I’m still so very very angry with the stupidity that is WP. I am so grateful and thankful that I didn’t pay for the premium account before i found out how they were baiting and switching.
-
@jazzylemon, I choose which cookies to delete through Firefox browser. Can you do the same with whatever browser you use? Of course, now that WP doesn’t use cookies to keep the classic editor, it doesn’t matter.
You can still use the old stats page, https://wordpress.com/my-stats and the classic editor through WP-admin, by bookmarking the links. You can also install a user script through your add-ons on your browser if you have Greasemonkey or something similar. See: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-reinstate-the-option-of-choice-to-use-the-old-publishing-format/page/4?replies=179#post-2311725 This is not cookie dependent, so it’s better than what WP was giving us as an option to use prior to them eliminating it.
-
@jazzylemon To Keep it Simple, I bookmark these links and keep them in the Toolbar (for quick access) at the top of my browser:
New (Classic) post:
https://YOURBLOGID.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpStats (Classic):
http://YOURBLOGID.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=statsIf dealing with all the cookies thing is your thing, that’s fine. But those two links are always at the top of my browser.
