New issue uploading media!

When uploading a PDF to media, I can no longer see a thumbnail or a preview. I can still see all of my previous media that was uploaded before I updarted to wordpress version 5.3, and PHP 7.0.33. Now, when I upload a new PDF file, I get the error message ‘Unexpected response from the server. The file may have been uploaded successfully. Check in the Media Library or reload the page.’ Any assistance would be appreciated!!

From what you’re saying it sounds like your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
