New line and <br> not working!

  I really need some help here, I can’t figure out how to get this to work and it’s infuriating! Any time I use a new line in the visual editor, or a
  tag in the html editor, it gets completely ignored! There -MUST- be some way to make a new line, right?

  Any help would be appreciated…

  Great, the br tag works in the forums, but not in the html editor…

  I use ‘<br class=”blank” />’ to get a hard line feed. Insert in html mode, it will survive switching between visual and html mode.

  I tried it the <br class=blank> but it gave me TWO blank lines, and I only wanted one.

  <br /> is depreciated in XHTML, and the wordpress DOCTYPE is XHTML . That is why it will not work. There are a number of standard HTML markup tags that are not supported in XHTML.

  You can also get a “soft return” in the visual editor by holding down the shift key and hitting return/edit .
