New member seeking advice!

Hello WP Community! Thought I would quickly introduce myself! My name is Ray and I really enjoy sharing everyday experiences along with my aspect/point of view on certain topics (some of which my be controversial). I’m coming to the forums for two reasons. 1) To introduce myself (Hopefully that’s accomplished!) 2) To ask several questions regarding blogging, the community and software.
First of all, what software to people use to edit/update blogs? Or are any used at all? I’m a Mac user and current I’m using Marsedit. Any upside there?
Secondly, what’s the best way to reach an audience and share ideas? I’m assuming it’s the forums but I’d like to double check! :)
Finally, I’ve been working on several blog posts, smaller issues, (drafts) and I’m not sure what kind of ideas or posts will bring attention to my blog. I’m not looking to gain a lot of viewers to my blog, however I would like to hold a small intellectual conversation with my audience. I hope that can be accomplished!

First off I moved this thread to the question forum also link signatures are not allowed in the forums but it’s best practice that if you start a thread to include a link since volunteers have come across threads where the member had more than one blog so you’re fine with the link in you response above…
Now on to answering your questions… = )

Some of the WP members just use the WP blog editor found in the dashboard while others prefer the browser extension ScribeFire while others prefer the offline blog editor option which I do recommend checking out this article for mac choices → Offline Blog Editors Reviews

There really isn’t a easy answer nor solution for this question each blog owner interacts with their audience in different fashions so you will just need to get a feel for the fashion tone you want for your blog….
As for traffic to be truthful there is no over night solution it takes a while to build a community some bloggers have been here a year before their community started to take shape others have been her for lesser time it really boils down to how much time and effort you put into your blog for writing content promotion etc..
A lot of bloggers hang out in the Off Topic forum as well as plug their blog in the Showcase forum plus they use twitter to promote their newest article plus some bloggers use the social share bar so their readers can share articles on the different social sites…
As for post ideas really the best advice I can give is find related blogs within the niche you’re writing about and get a idea of their writing tone then discover your own blogging voice for your own blog

To answer your second question, just search the forum. There are literally over a thousand, perhaps two thousand tips here already.
The BEST way to initiate and cultivate a conversation with your readers is to post. Don’t sit on material, waiting for it to become perfect while you sleep. Post. Post interesting things as frequently as they occur to you. And don’t moderate your comments.

Thanks for the help. I’m not going to “sit” on my content. I’m going to try and post one thing a day. I think that should be easily done. But, I’m not going to come up with content that isn’t interesting. :-D
