New Navigation Oddity

  Howdy,

  I just encountered a navigation oddity. I followed the link under “Accessing Page Attributes” from this support document https://wordpress.com/support/pages/page-options/

  My dashboard interface setting is set to “Advanced Dashboard Pages” but clicking this link brought me to the Calypso Pages dashboard at https://wordpress.com/pages/ That’s not the odd part.

  When in the Calypso Pages dashboard I clicked on the ellipsis to the right of a Page title and then clicked Edit.

  Rather than opening the Editor, which was the expected behavior, I was redirected to my WP Admin POSTS dashboard /wp-admin/edit.php instead.

  Hi @justjennifer,

  Goodness. I just replicated your instructions and I am getting the same thing. While set to Advanced Dashboard Pages, clicking edit under the ellipsis dropdown takes me to my /wp-admin/edit.php page rather than the edit page as well.

  I will report this internally ASAP and will keep you updated on a fix. Thank you!

  Hi staff-doublebassd, You’re welcome.

  I just now encountered another navigation change.

  Prior to the switch to unified navigation, logging in through the WordPress.com log-in link (https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https://wordpress.com/ ) brought me to the Reader. Now it brings me to the Calypso dashboard Home for my primary site.

  Don’t know if that’s intentional, but thought I’d mention it.

  Meanwhile, I see there’s a comment (from a former forum volunteer?) in #51693 regarding the landing page after log-in having changed to Home from the Reader, but up until the recent change in navigation, I always landed in the Reader. Go figure!

  staff-blorbo I hope that the Calypso Pages dashboard Edit link gets corrected soon, especially if our support documentation is linking to the Calypso dashboard as default.

  Thanks for the follow-up on the GitHub Reader issue. I’m stumped why I landed in the Reader after logging in on the WPcom homepage.

  Howdy, I want to mention one other thing about having a generic link like this https://wordpress.com/pages/ in the support documents, which opens the Calypso Pages dashboard. (I personally have no problem with it opening in Calypso; some other users might.)

  However, I have “just a few” sites/pages on WordPress.com and the link above loads ALL the pages from ALL my sites. That makes it much harder to find the Page I want to Edit.

  I don’t know what the solution is here, but wanted to mention it.
