new page appears always in the wrong (standard-template) design
-
Hallo, I have been stuck with this for hours:
I designed a new website with one of the special templates. Now, I want to add another page to it. But the customizer only allows me to add pages which already exist – I cannot add a blank page and edit it later. But if I add a new page outside of the customizer, wordpress doesn’t recognize it to be part of the website, and it is fomatted in the standard-template which does not go along with the design of the webiste. Moreover, at the bottom, it contains links to facebook etc. which I don’t want.
How can I add a page in the design of my homepage?
Grateful for help!!!
Thanks, Seelerche

Hi @seelerche, are you trying to add menu items?
If so you’ll need to start by adding the page:
https://wordpress.com/pageYou can set its template while you create it. Here are the available templates in this theme:
https://hemingwayrewrittendemo.wordpress.com/full-width-page/
https://hemingwayrewrittendemo.wordpress.com/When the page is published, you can add or remove widgets as you’d like, and can customize which pages they will appear on.
Then, once your page is set up as you’d like it, you can add a link to your menu using the Customizer.

Hallo Supernova,
Thanks for your reply. That’s exactly what I tried. Only: When creating the new page, the only two templates offered to me when I go to set/ change the template are “default” and “full width, no sidebar” – no possibility to change to “hemingwayrewritten” or others. Or is that the clue – that “full width” IS in this case synonymous with “hemingwayrewritten”??? Okay, it it, works :)
Thanks!!

@seelerche, ah. Try “full width no sidebar”. Your theme is for the whole site. The templates are for individual pages, and they are all in the style of Hemingway Rewritten, with or without a sidebar.
I hope that helps :)
