new page automatically links to static homepage
-
Hi all,
I’m creating a new main page and the preview before publishing shows the correct data and layout. Once I publish and then go view the live site – the page links directly to the main page. I have tried on several browsers and different computers, so it can’t be a weird cache issue. I’ve ensured that I don’t have a redirect link saved anywhere in the page settings or appearance>menu. And I’ve tried deleting and starting fresh multiple times. What could be causing this?
Thanks for any help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to set your site’s static Front Page here:

thanks! And sorry it auto-filled my webpage – it’s actually shopgoldandgrace.com that needs help.
Should I try what you’ve mentioned above even if all other new pages react perfectly? For some reason it is shopgoldandgrace/shop that never works – currently using shopgoldandgrace.com/shop-2 and it’s working fine.

You could try trashing the shopgoldandgrace/shop page (don’t delete it yet) then going to the shopgoldandgrace.com/shop-2 page and changing the url to shopgoldandgrace/shop. If it doesn’t work then restore the /shop page until someone else can help.
I had to do this a couple of times and it worked like a charm for me. YMMV.

Thanks wolfeyes1! I tried that with no luck. When I change the name to shop instead of shop-2, it redirects to home page, and when I change it back it shows properly.
I also tried deleting both and starting form scratch for that page several times.
Any new page with a different name reacts fine – so weird!

You cannot name a page the same as an existing page. If you trash a page, you still need to wait 48 hours before you can name a page the same name.
