New pages or gallery?
-
Hi, I am pretty new at this and my website has been fairly successful in selling my products. I have a good following through Facebook but I am getting no google traffic. I have a store on my website but really no other useful pages. Do I need to add different pages with photos and the words of each item so that when people search google those words will be found? I use ECWID for my store as it seems to work well with Facebook. I am planning on simplifying my website this week but am so confused about how to make it more visable in google. If someone could point me in the right direction or link me to some resources (for beginners) I would greatly appreciate it. I need to increase my customer base. Here is my competitors website – they are slowly taking my customers from me so I need to be able to compete with their webstie and google rating as my products are identical but mine are better priced – lovelockets.com.au.
Thanks in advance if someone can help. Short of paying someone a heap of money to redesign for me I am not sure what else to do.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. I’m no expert, but from the bits and pieces I’ve picked up here three things especially seem important: 1) Regularly posting new and original content that isn’t found elsewhere on the web will make Google index your site more frequently. 2) Your post titles and content should include appropriate keywords the Google can index. These should be the type of terms people will search for that will lead them to your site (product descriptions would fall in this category, I thing), but don’t just throw in irrelevant keywords – the algorithms Google uses can apparently tell if the keywords you use are not really related to what’s actually on your site. 3) Quality backlinks from other sites to your site can also drive up your search ranking. (Paid links and leaving spammy comments on other sites do not count as quality backlinks and can actually harm your search rankings..)
The blog http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/ has quite a few articles on this topic and is the best resource I know of where you might get more information on this.

Thank you very much for replying to me. So as far as I understand from that I need to update my blog everyday perhaps, like a spotlight on a product or something like that rather then creating extra pages with information.
I need a WordPress/websites for dummies!! So much has changed since I studied it 14 years ago lol! -
There actually is a WordPress for Dummies but I think it’s more aimed at the self-hosted version :)
Posts are definitely preferable to pages when it comes to search rankings. Search engines index your posts much more regularly.

@sharplessons, I’m not sure who you are directing your comment at, so
Pages, being static, are perfect for listing information that doesn’t change frequently like an “About Me” page.
Pages are not included in RSS feeds.
Search Engines prefer dynamic, frequently updated information. Hence, Posts are preferable to Pages.
