New pages re-direct to an excisting page

The website worked fine for months and now I wish to add 2 pages to the website. I copy the page “portfolio”, change the name of the page to “portret”, adjust the content and URL and press save.

Every time I click on the link “portret” (or “bruiloft”) it re-directs to the “contact” page. I never linked those two pages together.

When I am in edit mode and double click the button “portret” in the navigation, press link icon and it will preview the correct page! When I open the link it will show “contact” in stead.

I cannot find out what is going on. I cleared the cache, I change browser, I use incognito, tried the website on my phone, create new page and no luck.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – When I visit your new pages I see they both deliver what looks like the Contact page. After some research, I see what that is happening. This is all about your site Templates. More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/templates/

The site Template you have applied to the new pages, Bruiloft and Portret, is causing this issue. I will share two examples below to try to clarify.

    Example of a working page:

    Example of non-working page:

I believe that if you switch the Template for both Bruiloft and Portret to “Blank”, the content for each of them will appear as you expect.

As for why the Contact page is appearing on the template named “Page”, start from the Appearance > Editor here: https://steffievideofoto.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php

    1. Click on Templates.
    2. Then click on “Page”.

While in the the “Page” Template you will see that the Contact page information is saved to the “Page” template. This means any page you apply the “Page” template to, the Contact page information will appear.

I will pause here for now. Let us know if you have any questions about this information so far. :)
