I paid $48 to WordPress on 10/23; the latest reply says the only account you see is a trial at BlueHost. How do we clean this up?
-
Hi @mcurmudgeon, sorry for the trouble. We don’t see that upgrade under this account, so I’m guessing you have another. We’ll reach out via email to resolve this.
-
New headache: Automattic found another account, so that problem is solved…except that I cannot login to the dashboard or admin. The URL is: mjmelneck.com
Thank you

I assume you’ve tried logging in via the other correct username/account?
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/users/mjmelneck/
If you can’t remember the password you can type in that username here: -
The site, mjmelneck.com, belongs to the username,
mjmelneck, not the username, mcurmudgeonyou’re using to post here. Please log in as the correct account, and you will have access to your paid site with us.
If you don’t remember your login details for that account you can see the account recovery page @themagicrobot linked to above.

mjmelneck.com doesn’t load–this is the error I get: We can’t connect to the server at http://www.mjmelneck.com.
I’ve owned that domain for years, and have not had a problem until WordPress transferred the site.
-
Domain:mjmelneck.com
Registrar:Automattic Inc.
Name Servers:
ns1.shopco.com
ns2.shopco.com
ns3.shopco.comI thought the nameservers should point to wordpress.com by default. Are the name servers pointing correctly or should they say wordpress.com?
-
Your domain is pointed to a service called http://shopco.com/, yes. If it’s not loading it’s because of an issue on their end. We have not made any changes to the domain since the transfer to us were completed – that’s where the domain was pointing when it was transferred to us.
To change where the domain is pointing on our end you need to be logged into the
mjmelneckaccount that owns the domain. Themcurmudgeonaccount you’re using to post here is not a user on that site, and has no access to the domain’s settings, nor the authority to request us to make any changes.I thought the nameservers should point to wordpress.com by default
Only for domains registered with us. If a domain is transferred to us from elsewhere we do not automatically update the name servers on the domain, as not everyone wants to point the domain to us immediately after a transfer, for example, if they still have email set up or content they need to migrate from another host.
-
I’ll go to Shopco (my discount domains) and try to fix this. But when part of signing up and paying the $ you should tell me (us) that just transferring the domain name isn’t all there is to it. Will I be pointing the domain servers to anything other than WordPress.com?

Hi mcurmudgeon,
Will I be pointing the domain servers to anything other than WordPress.com?
If you want to use mjmelneck.com for a WordPress.com site, the DNS will need to be pointed to us. Our name servers are:
ns1.wordpress.com ns2.wordpress.com ns3.wordpress.comShopco should be able to help you make this change on their end. If you need any further help from us, please login as mjmelneck (the account which owns the domain) and reply here.
