new platform

This is a sad day for me. I have an old computer that does not like the new platform. I can not go back to classic. I can not add photos in the new platform. There is no one to help me. After ten years of being on wordpress, I am no longer welcomed.

  • Hello!

I’m sorry to hear this new Block Editor is causing you problems. This WordPress.com article answers the most frequently asked questions, such as, “Why have you changed the editor?” https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-com-classic-editor-deprecation-faqs/#why-have-you-changed-the-editor.
It also explains “How can I use the Classic Editor?” https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-com-classic-editor-deprecation-faqs/#how-can-i-use-the-classic-editor … and so much more. It is a very helpful article to get answers and explanations about the new Block Editor.

    Hope this helps :)

No this is not helpful. My computer no longer hosts Classic. And if doesn’t like your new platform eihter. I can NO LONGER add photos to my posts.

Since my posts are centered around photography, there is now no reason for me to stay with WP.

I have seen a lot of complains about the new platform.
If you want your new customers to use it find, but you need to take better care of those who have helped you become the biggest blog company in the world.

Do a count of how many thousands of unhappy customers you have. Then double that number to account for those who do not complain because they believe it will do no good. I’m beginning to think they maybe right.

Count how many of us have already moved on to more maneuverable hosts.

Reinstall Classic for your faithful members who have been around for decades.
And leave it up until the last of us have retired or died even if that means supporting Classic for another 50 years.

Otherwise other blog companies are going to grow for the lack of your foresight.

  • My computer no longer hosts Classic.

Your computer doesn’t host anything. Your computer accesses code on our servers via your web browser. If your browser is too outdated, because your computer is too old to upgrade to the latest version of your operating system, then it might no longer understand the code our website uses. In that case, there’s nothing we can do – there are both technical and security-related reasons why we cannot indefinitely support older, outdated browser versions.

That said, if your browser can’t load the code the block editor uses, you can still use the classic editor. Go to WP-Admin (just append /wp-admin to your website’s address) and click on Posts ->All Posts. You can both create new and edit existing posts from there using the classic editor.

However, also note that that option will not be available indefinitely.

WordPress is made by a community of volunteers on WordPress.org. WordPress.com, where your site is, is just one of many hosting providers using that WordPress software.

The block editor was introduced as the new default editor for that software when version 5.0 came out in December 2018. At the same time, the people on WordPress.org released the classic editor plugin for those people who still needed a way to use the classic editor for whatever reason. You can still use the classic editor on WordPress.com because that plugin is automatically installed on all WordPress.com sites.

But when WordPress.org released the classic editor plugin, they also made it clear that it is temporary, and that at some point they’ll retire that plugin. Once that plugin is retired, it won’t receive any further updates and will stop working. At that point it will also be removed from WordPress.com, as it is not feasible for us to build and maintain our own editor on top of the one already included in WordPress.

I updated FireFox like you suggested, now WP no longer recognizes my email address. I wants me to create a new account.

Safari is regularly updated by Mac and still I can not upload photos.

I almost upgraded my WP account. So glad I didn’t. It would have been a waste of money.

I am now on FaceBook. It still like me.

  • WP no longer recognizes my email address

Since you’re currently logged in with Safari, visit https://wordpress.com/me/account to see what you’re account’s correct email address is.

As for the continuing issue, first please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
