New platform for editing posts, this one you created.

I am so upset with the new platform to edit posts…
So bad you have changed. It was so good and now it is a pains in the ass!
Why did you do it? The window to see our text to edit is so short. The scroll bar awful. The fonts are not what they were according to the themes, the whole feeling is awful.
Sorry, it was a very bad idea to have put it in the main site of wordpress instead of our own panel. Besides I lost work, for with a energy problem, then when I came back , I see that some features thas automatically saved everything, it didn´t.
Please, bring the old platform to edit posts withing my panel, the way it was.
    Best,
    Adriana

    Hi there!

I understand that you’re frustrated with this change. I’m more than happy to pass on any specific bugs or functionality issues that you’re having.

The window to see our text to edit is so short.

There’s a little dotted icon in the lower right corner of the text box that allows you to drag this box taller.

    The scroll bar awful.

Can you tell me more specifically what you mean by this? Are you having trouble scrolling? Or is it visually disruptive?

I’d love to take more of your thoughts back to the team, however I need specific constructive criticism. I understand that change is frustrating, but if you can identify what exactly in the editor is difficult to use, or disrupting your flow, or bothering you in some other way, then we can try to make these things better.

Also, we’ve added a link to the new editor that will take you right back to the old editor if you prefer.

    Dear Ones,
Everything feels awful, I will help describing and comparing to the previous one.
1- Previous in panel: If I edit and do not save, and close the window, there was a message warning that it was not yet saved, if I wanted to leave that page. Actual wp panel, there is no warning, so if by chance I edit, talk on phone, and forget that I did not save and close the window of editing, I do not save.
2-Previous panel. If I left and did not save, ok, whenever I came back, there was a message, saying the backup is newer or different from the current text in the window. So I knew, there was something that I did preveously and did not save and could compare. Actual wp panel: It does not exist.
3-Previous panel: There was an small icon to add a contact form, actual wp panel, no icon.
4-The window to write is not wide enough, and the fonts, are awful, I mean I choose for example some header 1 for a title, and it does not change in the editing, it does work in the final result with the page published, but…I edit the whole text without seeing well, as I did in the previous.
5-Previous panel, I could customize to have the edit window wide and the widgets for categories, etc below it. Now in actual wp panel, they are mandatory to be in the right…and I get that very not wide enough window in the left.
6-I use internet since 1994, but….I am not young…Almost 50 years, and use wordpress since at least 2007 I guess, we get very tired with small fonts in the whole panel. And the new panel is like this.
7-Many of my post are too long, because yes, I write like this, and it is very bad to scrawl down them with 2 bars. REcently you had finally made the scroll bar perfect for the whole panel and window edition that was working very smoothly, and now I feel I am back to the “age of stone” of scroll bars.
8-About fonts, again, in the previous very recent editing panel, we could see the whole text with its edition, headers, colours of fonts, also the custom colours of fonts, everything was there in the window of editing, not in the preview, and now, a custom colour does not show well in the font, in the new wp actual panel.
9-The whole visual of the new panel is way far worse for me to get in to the many functionalities.
10- More…Previous panel> I could see on top exactly the name of the post I am editing, now I see your number…
11-It is a whole long list of things that through the years you have improved consistently that suddenly disappeared. There is more, it is that my English is not enough to describe in details, but by now I guess you clearly see that it obvious changed a big deal and functionalities were lost!
So, whatever you have in mind for this change, please see if we can have the option to use the new panel, or the previous.
12-I remember another. Previous panel, when I clicked to visualize the post, it opened exactly a new tab besides the editing window, now it opens a new window as a new page somewhere else, as a new browser. All these disturbs the already difficult everyday job of publishing.

And personally I get totally, it is personal, tired with a blue panel. Mine was the redish one, as customized, and now when I see that blue editing panel, I feel like “dying”, it is personal, I know, I need colours to go on!

So, I hope this has been useful.
I can talk on skype if you need my help.
    I speak well English…
Thanks for your help, during all these years you WordPress is the best service among google, facebook, hotmail, these things…Not all alike, but all free services and internet services. You are the only one who we can contact and talk freely that really listen and in my case, I do love to work in wp exactly because it does not creat radical changes that disrupt our work, as the others do. Google for example is impossible to use their features, always chan ging, always trying to get us to their way …unpleaseant!

Ok, this has been writen our of my mind with just all that I remembered from my experience yesterday in the new panel.
    Thanks a lot,
Here to help and be helped!

Thank you so so much for your detailed feedback. I will pass everything on your list back to our developers. You can keep track of our progress here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-post-editor-improvements

As for your third message, I’d love to help you make changes to your site. Let me know what you want to do and I can help you out! :)

1- Previous in panel: If I edit and do not save, and close the window, there was a message warning that it was not yet saved, if I wanted to leave that page. Actual wp panel, there is no warning, so if by chance I edit, talk on phone, and forget that I did not save and close the window of editing, I do not save.

The new editor saves your content locally instead of creating a draft. If you edit content in the new editor, then move to a different page, you can come back to the editor and your edited content will be there. However, it will not automatically create a draft from this content. We can only save one set of content locally, so if you open a different post any previously locally saved content will be lost.

I’ll pass on the idea for an alert on leaving the page though. That sounds like it would be helpful! :)

    Dear Shawna,
Thanks for you offer to help me.
I will write what I need in a more simple, direct, organized way for you to help me. The thing is that I use the very basic wordpress, and I do not know how to edit css, to move widgets and etc.
Ok, I will write you down as I said.
By the way today I used both the classic one and the simpler one, which I notices is more palatable…with some upgrades in scroll bar, window length and etc. So, both will be useful now.
    Thanks a lot,
And if you need any help, information whatsoever from Rio de Janeiro Brazil, do not hesitate to ask.
    Best,
    Adriana

    Dear,
Yes, Now I see, one is a “fast” editor, the other, the classic is for me who is actualizing the whole site…and am more in the “business” of beautifying and editing it more than writing it….So I understand both may have value now.
Yes, thanks about explaining the thing about saving locally and saving a draft.
    Thanks again,
    ADriana
I saw the link for the new editor, I will check that also.
    Best,
    Adri

There are 2 messages above, ok!

I’m so glad you’re using the new editor, even if it’s not perfect yet. :) I’m still sifting through your awesome mega response, so I’ll continue to follow up as I move through and make reports.

Here’s some info on learning CSS:

I’m more than happy to help you figure out some CSS code if there’s something you want to change.

And here’s some info on widgets:

    Widgets

I really love the fairly new widget editor which can be found in the Customizer. You should check it out! Its really handy to see you widgets as you’re adding them and moving them around. :)

The window to write is not wide enough

Have you tried the fullscreen option? In the Visual editor, there’s a fullscreen button second from the right on the top row of buttons. This may make editing easier for you there.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Ok.
Let´s continue: I am using the classic one more, for all those reasons and because I am editing more than writing. The new one, I used when I just wanted to add a new info. Or something very fast.

Thanks a lot for all those links.
Yes, I will ask your help for a small change initially. I use the sorbet theme, which I like a lot.
Where is the customizer? For me to see this new links to widgets?
    Thanks a lot,
    Adriana

That’s an interesting breakdown. If I may ask a purely inquisitive question, do you think this could partially be because you’re less used to the new interface? For example, when we fix the bugs that have been reported with the new editor, and you used it for a little while, do you think it might feel more natural to do your editing there as well?

We’re working on fixing the pain points with the new editor now. You can track our updates here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-post-editor-improvements

You can find the Customizer two different ways. The first way is through the admin bar drop down menu in the upper left when you visit your site. The other way is directly through your dashboard, you can visit Appearance > Customize.

Here’s some additional information about using the Customizer:

    Customizer

Thanks so much for your continued feedback. It’s really helpful for us to know where your pain points are. It’s also really helpful to hear when and why you’re using the new editor versus the old editor. :)

I will write this last question of yours about the new x old..
I hate widgets for settings in the right side as in the new.
I love to have it below.
I love to be in my own panel because at any moment, while editing, I feel the need to click in the menu of my own panel, like any thing, apperence, reading, any settings, I just click it…
And wow I told, you when I edit header, colours of tex, etc, all this APPEARS directly in the window edit in the sorbet theme!!! I can see how it will look like, without having to open the preview! Just open the sorbet, or you are free to go to my http://www.adrias.info and see the very first page of the blog in the editing mode! http://www.adrias.info just go there and go to the page…and see the difference!!! I see all my edition right there x I do not see anything in the new one. Example, colour of the links, format, size of the headers, all I see in the classic.
I hate the blue colour of the wordpress, it IS JUST PERSONAL, no problem with it, but I love to be in my panel and have it all redish x in your wp blue, so depressing l o l!
Besides I love the way black and white to see all the widgets for settings below the window editing in classic.
And there are more much more, in the classic, I have access to that little black header of yours on the top where I can move back straight to my blog, not only to the edited post, or even move to other blog of my mine in the list in the right top…
SEE? In my panel, all features of the panel are there avaiable. Yes, this is very good when one is updating the site, the posts, one by one, etc, etc, etc…! And to write a new one with all the headears and foot that I put in all of my posts… The new…I am sorry, it is depressing! Just kidding, but saying the truth. It feels like a pad x word full features..Unconfortable..Ok!

Please, do not take off the classic!!!
All the best, have a wonderful weekend!
    Best,
    Adri

  • Unknown's avatar

Again, thank you for all the feedback. It’s all really helpful for us moving forward. I definitely understand what you mean now. I’ll pass on these additional comments to our developers.

You have a great weekend as well! And let me know if I can help with any site customizations you want to do! :)

  • Unknown's avatar

I see you are looking to the page I mentioned in my http://www.adrias.info
Do not change any feature ok!!!! Of this precious editing mode!
I love this classic, for the first time in my life I edit with pleasure in this mode!!!
    Thanks!
    Adri

  • Unknown's avatar

I promise not to change anything! I’m just replicating your settings on my test site so I can do some testing, take some screenshots, and report the issues you mention.

Sorry! I didn’t mean to alarm you. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks a lot, no…no alarms…! Laughter! You know now…you saw…this sorbet theme fits like a glove to me, and it is the first time ” I am finding myself” in a theme, so…I just love it.
    So!!!!
Ok, you are welcome to check it out whenever you need it!
    Thanks a lot,
    Adri

That makes me so happy to hear. :D I’m going to pass that on to the theme developers, they’ll love it!
