new Poll feature
-
I think the new poll feature is great, but can the poll be placed in the sidebar rather then in a post?
-
That was answered in the comments over there. Yes, you can. Just copy the code and put it in a text widget.
-
Yes, it can. It’s a bit of a pain but if you go to write a post and create your poll there (taking care to select a narrow sidebar design so that it doesn’t mess up your layout), then you can grab the code and stick it in a text widget in your sidebar. I just tried this and it worked fine.

Hmm, I have been using these polls in my sidebar before they added this, but while Poll Daddy allows you to create your own style of poll( to match your blog), whenever I tried to use one of my own design in my sidebar it had a huge margin on the left of the sidebar text box, and so looked rather silly.
Anybody know how to combat this at all? -

I’m using Contempt…
It just indents the poll, so the question and answers etc. are all squashed in the middle of the box. -

Im having trouble with this poll feature, It took me forever to get one poll to show up on my blog, and I still can’t get the other poll to show up on my blog. Either way, I am happy I at least have one poll showing on my blog. Does anyone know how to center the polls on the post?

mine is only flush left as well. And I figured out how to solve my poll issue, apparently I can’t have my poll is a certain design that I like, so I have to choose the ugly generic poll designs…at least I think that was the issue, it didn’t start working until I changed the poll design.

Many thanks for the answers, one other thing and I know I am probably being dumb, but can you set the poll to close on a certain date?
-
You can center the poll. Just go into the visual mode in the rich text editor, highlight the code for the poll in your post and then press the center align button in the format options of the rich text editor. Works like a charm.
-
No not at this point you will have to manually remove the poll from the post or sidebar
I recommend putting up a message that the poll will close on a certain day
so your readers aren’t wondering why the poll is gone. -
By copying the shortcode of the poll in the text widget for a sidebar, do you mean just the [polldaddy poll=xxxxx] snippet or is there anything more one should add to? It doesn’t work for the poll I started in my blog http://greekchesspolitics.wordpress.com (I’m using the Andreas04 theme). I also couldn’t center it.

@masterclasslady what theme are you using? I’m using mistylook and the <p style=”text-align: center;”> method doesn’t work
