New Portfolio items don't appear on my website

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi! I am trying to add new drawings to my portfolio page. I have made sure they have the exact same settings as existing portfolio pieces, but when I publish them and view my page, they are nowhere to be seen. Even right after I publish them and click ‘Preview’ or click on the direct link, it takes me to a blank version of my portfolio page with no image visible. Can anyone please help me get to the bottom of why my images are publishing but remain invisible?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

    What’s the address (URL) of the site you’re referring to? The site https://afegreenhealth.wordpress.com/ has no published posts, an “About” page, and little else.

  • Unknown's avatar

    That site has no portfolio page either.

    Oh wow, this site sometimes… I apologize, it automatically generated that web link in my post somehow. The site I am having trouble with is http://chrisbringhurst.com/

    It’s hosted through Namecheap but I use WordPress to manage the actual content of the site.

    Sorry again for the confusion, I had no idea they’d assume a web page like that!

    Hi,

    So do you have Jetpack? Even if you do, this is probably not the right forum for addressing the issue you describe, unless you’re using a WordPress.com theme on the site. I don’t recognize the theme. What theme is applied?

  • Unknown's avatar

    The theme is Yin&Yang, I applied it through the marketplace on my WP-Admin page for the site.

    This may very well be the wrong place to ask, to be honest. I ended up posting here as part of an attempt to contact WordPress customer support. They automatically redirected me to a public forum which I found a little odd. I hate bugging other members for stuff they should be able to help me with, honestly : I can take this down if it’s been posted in the wrong place.

    chrisbringhurst.com is hosted by NameCheap
    Name Servers:
    dns1.namecheaphosting.com
    dns2.namecheaphosting.com

    This is WordPress.COM support and that site is not on our servers. You are posting to the wrong support forum. For hosting issues contact your web host. For software support read on.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    To be clear here at WordPress.COM support we do not provide support for local installs of WordPress.ORG software, or for WordPress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, linked to WordPress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites WordPress.COM account page.

    The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support.

    The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/

    If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/

    WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
    See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support.

    Jetpack support
    Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
    Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
    http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
    However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service

    @timethief,

    The reason why I hesitated to refer @captainslam immediately to the WordPress.org support forums is because, in a response to me, @kokkieh recently said the following in a Forums Help topic:

    If the user asks about a WordPress.com feature, like Follows, Stats, Likes, Publicize, Calypso (including the Reader and desktop app)… then our forum is an appropriate place to help them, regardless of whether the site they indicate is WordPress.com or self-hosted.

    … AND, though I didn’t recognize the theme (as I mentioned above), I’m aware that some WordPress.org users evidently use WordPress.com themes.

    @captainslam,

    For what it’s worth, I find 15 projects on the front page, and 17 (including one dated 20 October) on the portfolio page. I don’t know the reason for the descrepancy.

    @musicdoc1
    Thanks for sharing that… sigh. I long for the good old days when a WordPress.com hosted site was a spade and a WordPress.org site was a shovel. lol :D In the future I will not be answering threads here at all.

    I know what you mean. : )

    Just asked @kokkieh in that thread whether what he refers to as a “WordPress.com feature” includes features in specific WordPress.com themes.
